“Use of AI systems in the federal administration: strategy and implementation”
In 2023, Nina Gammenthaler joined the Federal Chancellery as a digital transformation expert in the Strategy and Innovation Section of the Digital Transformation and ICT Steering Division. She is mainly involved in implementing the strategy for the use of AI systems in the Federal Administration. Nina studied law in Fribourg i.Ue. and obtained her doctorate in internal market law at the Institute for European Law. She then worked in the legal department of the Federal Office for the Environment in the field of biotechnology where she later became head of the legal service staff. She also spent a short period as a data protection officer at Swissmedic, where she was involved in negotiating tcloud contracts, among other things.

Alfred Früh is a professor of private law specializing in life sciences law and intellectual property law and co-director of the Center for Life Sciences Law (ZLSR) at the University of Basel. He received his doctorate from the University of Zurich, where he was also managing director of the Center for Information Technology, Society and Law (ITSL). Today, he is managing director and board member of the Swiss Forum for Communication Law (SF-FS), part of the steering committee of the Responsible Digital Society (RDS) at the University of Basel, and board member of AIPPI Switzerland. His research focuses on the interaction between intellectual property rights and new technologies, particularly in the life sciences and data economy.
